If you drive a vehicle over three years old, you’re required by law to keep it in a safe, roadworthy condition.
MOT tests simply assess whether or not your Car, Van or 4×4 meets the minimum road safety and environmental standard.
Car MOT and Van MOT tests can only be carried out by trained and qualified specialists at centres authorised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
Vehicles that do not pass their MOT test are not eligible to be driven on the UK’s roads and failure to have your vehicle MOT tested may result in a fine.
The MOT test isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn’t check its general mechanical condition. But we always recommend that you get your vehicle regularly serviced on top of the compulsory MOT test. What does an MOT test include?
